The global stock markets are subject to constant change and almost every major stock market index has specific characteristics. Whether it is the sector to which the shares belong or their fluctuation intensity (volatility) - it is precisely these differences that make the various companies in an index particularly interesting for investors and mean that the performance of the shares included sometimes differs considerably from one another. A quarterly comparison of share performance illustrates how differently the "top performers" and "worst performers" of a trading quarter can turn out. Regardless of whether an existing trend continues or a trend reversal occurs, Vontobel offers suitable products for every market expectation.

A product for every market expectation

The performance of the stock markets is significantly influenced by global trends, economic conditions and sector-specific developments. We show you the three best and weakest stocks from the SMI® (Swiss Market Index) for the past quarter, measured by their price performance. The SMI® is the most important stock market index in Switzerland and comprises the 20 largest stocks from the overall market index for the Swiss stock market (Swiss Performance Index).

It remains to be seen whether the positive price development of the "top performers" will continue or whether the weakest stocks of a quarter will also be among the "worst performers" in the index at the end of the year. Depending on your market expectations for the future price performance of the "top performers" and "worst performers" of the past trading quarter, Vontobel offers products for rising, sideways-trending or falling prices. As always, it is important to bear in mind that past performance is not a reliable indicator of future performance.
